when two elements are mediated through an interface, our attention is brought to the bridge between them – their point of connection. but how does one imagine an “intraface,” that is to say, the ways in which components create a whole? how is the whole? frames are usually drawn around something to inform its understanding. the intraface is the inverse: understanding that comes from reflection, a kaleidoscope that reveals all invisible logics. frames become irrelevant. the intraface is the reality of expansion without heed to containment. it is what allows something to exist beyond the sum of its parts.
