Interfaces are the meeting points where two entities present to each other the abstractions of their inner worlds. As a canonical example, a “submit” button is the compromise between a human user’s desire to finalize something, and the inner machinations of a computer to engage with its storage. How can we drill deeper into our inner interfaces – our “intrafaces” – that represent the infinite compromises made between competing parts of our bodies, mind, and spirit? Imagine drop-down menus with all options spelled out. At what point does further definition and deconstruction return to the realm of abstraction?
